What is Burke's Fitness Battle

Burke's Fitness Battle is a team-based challenge that will help you stay active and hopefully build your sense of community at »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ! Burke's Fitness Battle is open to »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ students, faculty, and staff. 

Burke's Fitness Battle Fall 2024 is right around the corner - check below for details!  

 

Rules 
  • Battle begins on September 23 and runs through November 3
  • Burke's Fitness Battle is open to »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ students, faculty, and staff
  • Teams can have a maximum of 4 members
  • Teams get a point for every day a member of their team logs a fitness activity
  • All activity for the week must be logged by Monday at Noon
  • Teams can get bonus points each week (see scoring below)
  • The week runs Monday through Sunday
  • Team scores will be updated on the Paterson webpage each Monday afternoon
  • Prize announcements coming soon! 
Scoring
  • Each team member can get 1 point a day by logging a fitness activity (see examples of activity below)
  • Each team can get 1 extra point per week by taking a photo of at least two teammates doing something active together paterson@berkshirecc.edu 
  • Team members can get one additional point by attending Burke's Activity of the Week. Activity of the week will be posted on the Paterson website Friday night
  • It should be noted a select few of Burke's Activities of the Week will only be open to »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ Students
Activity

Activity is anything active that is a minimum thirty minutes in duration.  Here are some examples of acceptable activity:

  • 30 minute walk
  • 30 minute hike
  • Weight Lifting 20 minutes, Exercise Bike 20 minutes
  • Pickleball
  • Raking Leaves for 30 minutes
  • Yoga Class

Spring 2024 Third Place - Dogs are Barking

Burke's Activities of the Week: 
  • Week 1: (9/23-9/29) Recreation – Frisbee 9/23 3-4pm Cornhole, volleyball or badminton
  • Week 2: (9/30- 10/6) Cardio – Check in to Paterson 1pt complete 1 mile on the treadmill 1pt
  • Week 3: (10/7-10-13) Adventure – Join Craig on a hike and learn more about the adventure program
  • Week 4: (10/14-10/20) Strength – Attend an Intro to Fitness session or Practical Pilates class
  • Week 5: (10/21-10/27) Mindfulness – Attend a yoga session Tuesday or Thursday
  • Week 6: (10/28-11/3) New Activity – Climb a new mountain take a fitness class you have yet to try, attempt a pullup or tryout the Stairmaster in the fitness center
